I remember when HMQS had its first quilt show. This was a machine quilting show that was brand new in Utah. They were begging for quilts! My boss asked us to please put something in the show.
Now it is one of the premier quilting shows in the country! And it’s not HMQS (Home Machine Quilting Show) anymore, it’s UQSM. (Utah Quilt and Sewing Marketplace). That just happened this year.
My friends and I enjoyed a lovely day looking at spectacular quilts! What could be better? These quilts are amazing, especially the award winners. And the quilting is unbelievable! Here are some of my favorites.
This adorable take on the Beatles.
This was part of a display of doilies turned into wall quilts.
This one had beautiful machine embroidery.
Oh, my goodness, the quilting!
This one is all hand appliquéd.
Holy gorgeousness, batman! These mariner’s stars are amazing!
I love the colors on this one.
Now for the award winners. Hold on to your hats, folks! This is the Best of Show.
You must see the close-up of this one. Notice the binding detail, with the piping and even crystals. It was made with silk fabric, too!
And another mariner’s compass. Spectacular!
Those are tiny, tiny pieces! Not to mention the quilting.
This one is ___ (fill in adjective, I’m out of them.)
And the embellishments really make this quilt pop!
I love maps, and this quilt was so cute!
I loved the colors on this one. It was appliquéd.
And another appliqué quilt.
I love this idea! All of the family’s footprints are in the flip-flops.
Oh. My. Gosh. I almost wet myself when I saw the Harry Potter quilt! I love Harry Potter!
This quilt was here all the way from Germany!
This was a lovely modern quilt. I love the colors.
This one was to test whether you could stand up after looking at it! (JK)
I love the almost steampunk, yet modern look of this one. It is all hand appliquéd!
Lastly, this cute child’s quilt. I love the water!
Hope you enjoyed this small sampling of gorgeousness!
