Welcome to the Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 12 blog tour! Make sure you hop on over to Quilty Pleasures, Quiltmaker’s blog, for the complete list of today’s blogs. Volume 12 is fabulous, as all the volumes have been. I’ve been blessed to be part of all but two volumes. I love this publication, and it’s been so much fun to be a part of.
If you haven’t been to my site before, I hope you enjoy browsing and seeing all the fun things we have here at QuilterChic. Check out the Hey Mama! quilting sew-along that we are just finishing up. (Finishing instructions coming next week, btw.) I also hosted an appliqué block-of-the-quarter, Sweet Seasons, which is still available for download. I recently opened my online quilt shop, with 3 patterns now available. I’m working on getting more available soon. (I have to write them!) Please subscribe to receive the latest hints, quilting news, and other fun things in your email.
I’m the author of two quilting books, Fresh and Fabulous Quilts and Quilt Batik!, both available from Martingale & Co.
My block is #1132, Plaid is Hip on page 23. I had a lot of fun figuring out this block! I wanted the colored border pieces to be woven-looking. I had to actually draw it out to get it right! The appliqué is a fun blunt-edge flower with a plaid fabric that uses all the other colors. I hope you like it!
I like these sort of flower shapes, and I have used them before. The first time was when I worked at the local quilt shop. One of the owners (there were 3 total) had a wall-hanging-of-the-month that each employee designed for their specific month. I believe mine was for May. Here is my wall hanging:
I also used a blunt-edge flower design for a flower in my quilt, Every Blooming Thing. It is from my book, Fresh and Fabulous Quilts. (Available in ebook only from Martingale & Co., my publisher.)
If you’ve made it this far, congratulations! I have prizes worth dollars for you! I am giving away 2 copies of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 12, as well as a copy of my book, Quilt Batik! for three lucky winners. I’ll also throw in two of my patterns for two more people, making a nice, even 5. You can pick from the patterns I have in my store if you win these prizes. To enter, simply leave a comment sharing how you started quilting! (Or why you’d like to, if you haven’t.) Winners will be chosen randomly, and will be announced Friday. Emails will be sent to the winners.
Thanks for visiting, and enjoy the rest of the tour!
