Shop Hoppy Shopper

I went shop hopping with my friend, Jeannie, last week! The Wasatch Front Shop Hop is a collection of 16 stores along the Wasatch Front. (The Wasatch Front is the name of a mountain range in Utah. The main freeway runs along this mountain range.) The theme this year was “Around the Town” and so every shop was a different location you would find in town: ice cream shop, diner, even police station! Shop hopping is always fun, and this year featured a new adventure… my brakes broke right before we got on the freeway! I left half of my tire on the roadway while I was pulling off the road. We took Jeannie’s car and persevered! We got about half of the shops and then I had to take care of my car the next day. [ MORE » ]

I actually designed Flower Power in my head pretty early in my “quilt designing” career. I had seen a leaf motif in a magazine that they had cut in half like my flowers and fell in love with the concept! My husband was drawing little flower motifs, and I modified this one for a 60’s flavor flower. New Site!

June 1, 2009

Welcome to my new web site! Don’t you love it? (See poll below) I sure do. Its all thanks to the most talented web site designer anywhere, Neil Brown. The same name is totally a coincidence. (Possibly due to the fact that I married him 26 years ago! Best move ever!)

My site is a combination blog and web site that I’ll update frequently. Check back often for great quilting tips, my favorite quilting tools, spotlights on my quilts and reviews of quilt shops (stores and on-line.)

Have fun, and I hope you’ll find something you’ll enjoy!

Flying Geese x 4

One of my favorite tools is the Flying Geese x 4 ruler by Lazy Girl Designs. This is (obviously) a tool for making flying geese!

The ruler is marked to cut one large square and 4 small squares for whatever finished size flying goose unit you want. (2″ x 4″ for example.) It is very easy to use and read, and doesn’t have any waste the way traditional flying geese piecing usually does. [ MORE » ]
