Inside: Get inspired with Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 16 magazine on sale now.
I was terrified of monsters when I was a little girl. I thought they were under the bed. I would turn off the light and run as fast as I could to jump in bed and pull the covers over my head! This went on until I was about 21 years old.
But what if monsters are cute? One Christmas after I was married there was a stuffed toy called My Pet Monster. They were the most adorable things ever! I wanted one so badly. My husband asked me if he should get me one of those or something more practical. I went for the more practical thing. To this day, I can’t remember what that was, but I remember My Pet Monsters! Guess I didn’t choose wisely.
This week is the release of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 16, and I am thrilled to share my block with you! It is Calling All Monsters and features my favorite, adorable monster.
My husband is an illustrator, and this monster started with him. He made several monsters bursting with personality in Adobe Illustrator. I had to convert the monster to a simpler format for hand appliqué. I also used a little bit of embroidery, and a fun, colorful border.
I love the Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks publications! I’ve had a block in all but 2 of them, and every issue has great ideas for your next quilt!
Quiltmaker is hosting a Blog Tour Road Rally. Hop on over to their blog, The Quilting Company (Quiltmaker) for all kinds of fun and prizes. Oh, yeah. I’ll be giving away prizes to 5 lucky readers on this blog, too. 2 winners will get a copy of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 16; one winner will receive a copy of my book, Quilt Batik!; and 2 winners will receive a pattern of their choice from my quilt shop.
To qualify for prizes simply leave a comment sharing your best monster moment, whatever it may be! Winners will be chosen at random and notified by email.
If you’ve never been here before, enjoy my blog, and look around! I am just finishing up a row-of-the-month Quilt Along, In My Neighborhood, featuring 11 different designers. It’s not too late to join, though, and you can still download all the patterns. Also, check out all my other free stuff.
