To my child’s eyes, our Christmas wreath was the most gorgeous thing I had ever seen! I watched as my mom made it herself using a cardboard wreath shape and pinecones. She lovingly glued each pinecone in place, then added a red bow for extra Christmasyness.
My family used that wreath for the entire time I was growing up! Every Christmas, there it was. Even when the pine cones started falling out, mom would just glue them back in place.
I’ve owned many wreaths since that first, magical one, and I just love the shape and the warm feelings they give me. They aren’t just for Christmas anymore, either!
Welcome to the Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 15 Block Tour Road Rally! Hop on over to Quilty Pleasures, Quiltmaker’s blog, if you haven’t already.
You might have already guessed, but I have a block in this magazine and it is a wreath! It’s called One More Round. I have had the honor to have blocks in all but 2 volumes of this popular series.
I first explored this shape, along with circles, for my quilt Round and Round. I also wanted to use different textures of fabric.
For my One More Round block, I brightened up the color palette and made it a little bit smaller. I used some wool appliqué for texture. With a pieced background made with polka dots, this wreath could be your own gorgeous start to a quilt. So get the magazine, get some fun fabric, and get sewing!
I will be giving away some prizes from my blog for the Block Tour Road Rally, and you could win one of two copies of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 15, a copy of my book, Quilt Batik!, or one of two copies of my pattern, Round and Round. To qualify, leave a comment about your favorite wreath! Prize winners will be drawn randomly, and informed by email.
